About the Event:
A project exploring and sharing the perceptions and experiences of skate park users.

This project is being undertaken by AOSC (the Australasian Occupational Science Centre) at the Shoalhaven Campus of the University of Wollongong and involves partnership with the Shoalhaven City Council and the South Coast Register.

Dr Alison Wicks, Director of the AOSC is the principal investigator. She is being assisted by two young Canadian students who are undertaking a Masters in Occupational Therapy at the University of Western Ontario.

The exhibition will consist of photos of the skate park taken by South Coast Register staff and selected comments from young people interviewed. In addition, a young local artist, who is commencing a Masters in Visual Arts at the University of Wollongong, will produce some visual images that portray key elements of the skate park.

The display will be exhibited at the Shoalhaven Campus, and the reception area of the City Council. Councillors, members of the general public and skate park users will gain an insight from the display of how the skate park addresses the recreational needs of the young people in Nowra.
