Sports Day at Bernie Mulaine Sports Complex

10am – 1pm Sports Showcase

The sport showcase day will be used to showcase the council built, privately managed facility in the Bernie Mullane Sports Centre as well as the open sporting fields surrounding the centre. The day will also be used to show the different sports that are available to the youth of the area to develop healthy and active lifestyle.


The day will include the complex showcasing their facilities and programs which they have to offer which includes coaching classes, gymnastic programs and sporting competitions. The sporting fields will be utilized by many sporting organizations, both main stream and emerging sports as well and this will be done on a rotation basis throughout the day.

There will also be information stalls available in and around the complex which will provide information about the following:

- Healthy Living
- Nutrition
- Eating Habits

Individual sporting and recreational organisations will be able to set up stalls on the field or inside the centre when they are presenting/showcasing their sport and they will also be given the added bonus of having a permanent information stall as well for the whole day.

- AFL
- Soccer
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Tennis
- Softball
- Gymnastics
- Badminton
- Table Tennis

In a traditional Australian Idol style, 8 young people will be battling it out, for the Youth Idol title 2009. The night will contain of 8 performances by young people in the Penrith Area LGA. The guest judges on the night are past contestants from Australian Idol 2008 and the Australian Idol singing coach will also be a judge on the night. The winner and runners up of youth Idol will receive awesome prizes and the whole experience is a way for the young people to be exposed into the music industry. The whole event is being helped run by young people between the ages of 12 – 18 years. A cheap sausage sizzle and drinks will be provided on the night. The first 100 young people and their families will receive a Youth Idol pack; with lots of cool goodies inside.
